James Ingram
"Blessed Assurance"

In 1981, Ingram provided the vocals to "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways" on Quincy Jones's album The Dude. He won a Grammy award for best R&B vocal performance for his work on this album. Ingram's debut album, It's Your Night, appeared in 1983, including the ballad "There's No Easy Way." He also worked with other notable R&B artists such as Ray Charles, Anita Baker, Viktor Lazlo, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, and Kenny Rogers. In 1990, he scored a No. 1 hit on the pop charts with the love ballad "I Don't Have the Heart" from his It's Real album.
But Ingram was best known throughout the decade for his hit collaborations. He went to No. 1 on the pop charts with Patti Austin on "Baby, Come to Me," a song made popular on TV's "General Hospital." A second Austin/Ingram duet, "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" was featured in the movie "Best Friends" and earned an Oscar nomination. A few years later, he won a 1985 Grammy Award for "Yah Mo B There," a duet with Michael McDonald. And he teamed up with Kenny Rogers and Kim Carnes for the Top 40 ballad "What About Me?" in 1984.
In 1987, he teamed with American vocalist Linda Ronstadt, and had a US Pop No. 2 Hit with "Somewhere Out There", the theme from the animated feature film, An American Tail. The song garnered Grammy and Academy Award nominations and was certifed gold (over 500,000 U.S. copies sold) by the RIAA. Ingram performed two solos on the 1985 recording and video of "We Are the World." He also co-wrote "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" which was recorded by Michael Jackson on his blockbuster Thriller.
In the 1990s, his highest-profile team-up came again with Quincy Jones, on the song "The Secret Garden." This song also featured vocals by Barry White, El Debarge and Al B. Sure!
Soundtrack songs were popular for Ingram in the 1990s. From the movie Sarafina! came "One More Time," and from City Slickers came "Where Did My Heart Go?" His 1994 composition "The Day I Fell in Love", which he dueted with Dolly Parton, was the theme song for the movie Beethoven's 2nd and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
During the summer of 2006, Ingram participated in the U.S. television reality show Celebrity Duets as a duet partner. The show combined professional vocalists, of different musical genre, with entertainers of different backgrounds in a weekly elimination competition. In 2007, he and neo-soul singer Angie Stone teamed up on "My People."

Darwin Hobbs
He's Able

Hobbs launched his debut solo CD Mercy in 1999. He followed with the best-selling Vertical project in 2001. It featured the gospel smash "Everday" with Michael McDonald and his stunning gospel rendition of "So Amazing". Hobbs' prior collection Broken, was his highest charting project to date, peaking at #3 on the Billboard gospel sales chart in 2003. Since the start of his career, Hobbs' voice has often been compared to that of the late Luther Vandross. When asked if the comparison offends him Hobbs answered "In my short lifetime so far, I've never heard anybody else be compared to "Luther", so actually I see it as a huge compliment!" Hobbs never had the occasion of meeting Luther Vandross, but says he did speak with him over the phone once while Luther was in Atlanta promoting a CD on the "Frank Ski Morning Show". According to Hobbs "Luther was very complimentary and even sang to me over the phone. He said he was honored that I recorded "So Amazing" and invited me to dinner during my next visit to New York City." Unfortunately, Luther passed away before the two could build upon what started in that conversation.

Tamla Mann
At the age of 8, Tamela began mimicking the singing talents of her mother. By the time she was 12 years old, Tamela's electrifying octave was promoted to the church's adult choir. Often selected to sing solos, a bashful Tamela with perfect pitch and dramatic soprano control would gloriously bellow the Lord's praises! From her early singing days in the local church and high school choirs, a songstress blossomed.
As time would have it, such musical preparation served her music career of which Tamela was privileged to join up with multi-Grammy award winning and double platinum gospel phenomenon Kirk Franklin and The Family. The debut album of Kirk Franklin and The Family not only changed the musical landscape of gospel music but the album realized a defining moment in gospel music history by being the first to go platinum. Franklin and his group, The Family released the smash hit Whatcha Lookin' 4, which dominated on the Billboard's Top 200. The album was No. 3 on the R&B charts and No. 1 on Contemporary Christian and Gospel charts. Likewise, the album received celebrated musical honors including a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel album, a Soul Train Music Award, five (5) Stellar Awards, and an NAACP Image Award for the best duo or group.
In addition to the remarkable success Tamela has enjoyed with The Family, she has collaborated and performed with numerous artists including Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blige, Al Green, Celine Dion, Bono, and Fred Hammond. Tamela's vocal contribution can be heard on various albums including Jackie McCullough Live, LL Cool J, and Kirk Franklin's Christmas. As if that were not enough, Tamela's signature voice can also be heard on respective Coca Cola and Ashley Stewart commercials. With countless television appearances to her credit such as The Jay Leno Show, BET Soundstage, 1999 Grammy Awards, Dove Awards, and the United States of America World Olympics, Tamela also appeared in the 2001 comedy movie Kingdom Come starring Whoopi Goldberg and Jada Pinkett Smith in which Tamela rendered an unforgettable solo during the film.
In 1996, Tamela joined the gospel musical cast of David E. Talbert as he directed the stage play comedy He Say...She Say...But What Does God Say?
In 1999, Tamela began her acting career. The natural flair of Tamela was sharply discovered by the one and only Tyler Perry. By the year 2000, Tamela's debut was set as she was cast in Perry's hilarious stage play hit I Can Do Bad All By Myself where she played the character of Cora-Madea's spiritual but giggly daughter and the lovable wife of "Mr. Brown." Always the encourager, Cora serves as the spiritual glue of the family and effective captures the audiences' attention when she harmoniously executes a thunderous song to make her point. In 2001, Tamela played in Perry's musical drama/comedy Diary of a Mad Black Woman. She played the character of Myrtle-a bit of a feisty, preachy woman who was never short on words.
In a relatively short period of time, Tamela's exemplary performances have paved the way for Cora to become a principal character in Perry's successful stage productions, Madea's Family Reunion and Madea's Class Reunion.
Tamela Mann positively exudes the gifts and calling from her Savior above. And while she is enjoying the fruits of her labor, her dearest joy comes from the relaxing days spent with her husband of 16 years, David Mann and their four adoring children.
